zac carey : about

I was formed and founded in London, where I now practice as an architect.

Trained at Newcastle and the Architectural Association, my engagement with architecture has centred around an interest in the forgotten or ambiguous spaces of cities; their occupation and (mis-) appropriation, and I am especially excited by projects which embody this interest.

My rambling dissertation on the impact of communication technology on the shape of the built environment was picked up by Routledge and published within their Cybercities Reader (2004) as a much more acute ‘reading’ exploring a new engagement with the shared space of the city, through a ‘public choreography of physical movement’ – orchestrated by mobile phone.

Professionally, I enjoy the challenge of enthusing clients towards solutions that wed technology with context – and to include, where possible, the potential for linking (or blurring) public and private space – with respect to social and economic realities.
